Benton End, Hadleigh IP7 5JR
Visit limited to 30 people, £20 each, (NOW WAITING LIST ONLY) all proceeds going to The Benton End Garden Trust, a subsidiary charity of The Garden Museum in London. Includes a mid-morning refreshment.
This is a repeat opportunity to visit the former home and art school of the celebrated artist-plantsman, Sir Cedric Morris, with priority being given to those who were unable to join our visit in 2022. There will be a tour of the beautiful 16th-century Grade II* house and its 3-acre garden which is set for a revival having been recently acquired by The Garden Museum. Here you can enjoy the spring bulbs dubbed ‘Cedric’s Ghosts’, that stud the lower walled garden and include narcissi, irises, and fritillaries. Many of these can be traced back to Cedric’s plant-hunting trips abroad. There will be a chance to hear plans for the future and speak to the recently appointed Head Gardener who is leading the development of this once-renowned garden.
