Bursaries and Grants

Humphry Repton Bursary Scheme

Humphry Repton was born in Suffolk in 1752 and went on to be one of this country’s greatest garden designers. To encourage a new generation of Suffolk garden designers and practitioners, the SGT offers, each calendar year, two bursaries, worth up to £500 each, to help Suffolk residents who aspire to a career linked to horticulture, garden or landscape design, or garden history. The bursaries can be used for approved course fees, as well as incidental course costs, such as books, travel, stationery or equipment.

Bursary recipients will also be given a year’s free membership of the SGT and will be encouraged to attend at least one garden visit at no cost.

Towards the end of the course the student will be asked to make a brief written or personal presentation to the SGT about their course and their future intentions.
