The plant sale is in aid of Great Dixter Student Fund and this year they have teamed up with James Ackroyd-Cooper who is also holding a sale at his home at the end of May. A great opportunity to go to both as there will be a different selection of plants and two different gardens.
All the monies raised will be going to the Great Dixter Student Fund. This is run by Fergus Garrett, head gardener and CEO of Great Dixter Charitable Trust in Kent. Fergus takes students from all backgrounds and turns them into first rate gardeners who go on to be employed all over the world. Last year they raised over £3,500.
David Bidwell has contributed a large number of unusual and rare plants from Beeches Nursery in Ashdon, now closed, owing to Alan Bidwell’s death last summer. James also will be offering a good selection of plants not available in garden centres including many Benton irises.
More details to follow nearer the time.
